Xu Shu does not look surprised or troubled at this response, only thoughtful. As deep as his own? If that's the case there is time to prepare and plot for what might come, a better chance to ensure Daud does not have to kill, to ensure he himself can do as much to avoid it himself... though also to ready himself better for another battle if it comes to that. Or a quiet, quick job. Neither things Xu Shu wants to do.

But if it comes to it, well. He rubs his forehead and sighs softly, before looking up and offering a faint smile. Say whatever he likes?

"I know that much about you," Xu Shu says, quiet and careful. "And you might say it's part of the reason I am glad for your answer. I would rather not have to kill you, but, if it's to come to that, the part that wants to live as the face I am talking to does should get as much time as he can."

There's no point in avoiding the frank nature of things with this man, is there? He knows anyway. This isn't a completely selfless decision, though, made obvious through his next words... the truest source of his anxieties right now.

"And I need time to repair things with Daud. If I ever do something so risky again without his prior knowledge the breaks might never heal."
