The monk shakes his head yet again before he forgives the actions. "It is all right. I know that he doesn't remember simple things, so we shall call this just a small rock in the road you two are walking." Daud keeps his love within himself where no one else can hurt it. He does not know what to do when that love is threatened but such things can be learned.
"And no tricks, then." He makes a gesture with his hand, pulling it back. Tenkai decides to not say what little curse he was planning on placing on the person. His eyes instead smile warm and fond at Xu Shu, brushing off what might have been with a cheerful voice. "You must be hungry. What auspicious timing for me."
He holds his hand out toward the nearest chair. "Sit. I'll cook you something."

But at least there's a plan of sorts in Xu Shu's mind now. An almost frightening one, and certainly a painful conversation to even think about, but Tenkai was right during that text conversation (like he so often is, having those oddly clear eyes that make lying a pointless endeavour). Shared pain and honesty is going to be important in order for them to fix things.
'Shan Fu.' His first name, and a past, that for so long he'd done nothing but avoid. That couldn't be the case anymore.
"I hope that is all it is." Sighing softly, Xu Shu rubs the back of his head and thinks about the matter for a few moments more before Tenkai makes his command. "Oh. Well, I am, but... what were you thinking of cooking?"
Though despite the question he takes a seat again, getting the sense that it was better not to ignore that particular command. At least there aren't going to be any 'tricks,' right? He settles slowly into the chair, fingers finding their way to the cloth that covers his scar again and rubbing circles over the top.

"As you are recovering, I will make zosui." His tone is one that indicates that he feels this is all very obvious. Of course, as he is taking out all the ingredients to make the food, there are a lot of peppers and hot sauces that he is also setting on the counter. He does this without a word, because it should also be obvious that his level of scolding is going to be this way.
The monk looks over to him, concern sliding around his words. He won't ask if it hurts, because he most likely has heard that question over and over. And your answer? It would be that it is a minor thing. I shall skip past that dialogue. "You also wanted to have a conversation with me, did you not? I am here. So, will you not begin to tell me what you want to talk about?"

Right?
"Yes."
This is easier to focus on, despite the serious nature of the conversation; Xu Shu fidgets as he talks, never staying still and constantly fiddling with his glasses if not rubbing his wound. The discomfort is obvious.
"I have a simple question first... your other face. How deeply asleep is he?"
Because that answer will shape much of what Xu Shu has to consider around Tenkai in future. He's made an oath in passing to Daud and he intends to keep it, even if Daud isn't exactly happy about that fact... though, well. What father ever would? A child should outlive their parents is that unwritten life rule and Xu Shu has risked his life, continues to do so, in order to protect the father he chose.

Glancing over his shoulder, he tilts his head at the question. "An interesting inquiry." But, ah, he cannot be kind this time. Truly, he cannot be kind to Xu Shu all the time, because the man does not require every drop of kindness he can muster. The man is not Kingo who would wilt under a moment of harshness.
"I would say as deeply asleep as your own." A chuckle chases his words at his joke laced with sharpen pieces of glass. His tone is slow, thoughtful. It starts out soft and carefully reassuring. "The other face sleeps deeply. He will not wake so easily because I will not let him wake. His dreaming will be uninterrupted and so, you can say whatever it is you like..."
He turns around to fully face the young man. Bringing his hands together, he interlaces his fingers. His tone changes to speaking statement, facts. Cold and unyielding. "But I am "me" and "I" am me. I cannot ever be separated from my faces. Not truly. Not really. So, simply because you like one more than the other... it does not mean this truth can be erased."
His way of telling Xu Shu that Daud is correct about him. His way of telling Xu Shu that Xu Shu is correct about him. Both men are correct. So, what will the strategist do? ... Indeed, if I gave you nothing but proper answers, you are someone who would perish in only futile soil and warm sun.

But if it comes to it, well. He rubs his forehead and sighs softly, before looking up and offering a faint smile. Say whatever he likes?
"I know that much about you," Xu Shu says, quiet and careful. "And you might say it's part of the reason I am glad for your answer. I would rather not have to kill you, but, if it's to come to that, the part that wants to live as the face I am talking to does should get as much time as he can."
There's no point in avoiding the frank nature of things with this man, is there? He knows anyway. This isn't a completely selfless decision, though, made obvious through his next words... the truest source of his anxieties right now.
"And I need time to repair things with Daud. If I ever do something so risky again without his prior knowledge the breaks might never heal."

He merely hopes when the time comes that will be when Kingo is grown and no longer in his sight. He hopes it will be a time where he cannot even see Kingo's shadow anymore. Because it will mean that he can sleep with the knowledge that the little lord will not shed any tears outside of his watchful eye. Perhaps, a little frown will show itself as would be respectful, but tears? Does his little lord wish to have him haunt him forever to ensure he is always comforted?
Such a thing. Such a curse. He chuckles; preparations complete and he can start cooking.
"Ah, that?" Tenkai focuses his attention on what he is doing. Did he not say that he would not be too kind? He did. "That is difficult. Daud is needing to meet me so that he knows that you made the right deicison. You are needing to talk to him honestly while he still doubts that you were right." He starts cutting peppers up, musing aloud.
"I cannot meet with him on my own. I cannot go to him for he will assume a trick or a trap. With his fear as it is, I cannot hope to prove much of anything to him." Even though, he did text him a little and caused a ruckus. His head tilts to the side. He sets up all the limitations that Xu Shu now has in order to achieve the end result that he wants. "Your father will not disown you. I realize that may not be something you fear, but I feel I should reassure you since I am most unhelpful with your current situation."
A soft smile in his words. "Your father will not disown you. He will feel that anger deep in his chest and he may say something harmful, but he could never do it. He has placed you somewhere too ... human, too soft... for him to recklessly rip you out of it." He pauses. "So no matter what... know he will not abandon you. Know he will not cut ties. He will remain with you... so call his bluff if he should be so bold as to threaten. He should then remember his love is not something he wants to destroy with his own hands and come to his senses."
Oops. He helped quite a bit there, didn't he?
